How safe is Norway?

Liv

Like all places, precautions should be taken. In general, the country is safe and you can relax your guard a bit. I have personally not experienced violence and nor has anyone of my closest female friends. Just be smart under your stay (:

I feel extremely safe all over Norway. Both in rural areas and in the big cities alone after dark. The only thing I would be concerned about is going hiking alone without the necessary equipment and experience. Not because of other people, but because the force of nature is real, and the weather can change very quickly from blue sky and sunshine to snow storm.

Is Norway safe to travel?

4.9 /5

Family travel experience

I felt safe everyday and everywhere, locals were so helpful and everyone speaks English, we booked the hot tub and sauna and it was really nice, it's easy to explore by car and there are many things to see, it's expensive but worth it

Solo travel experience

I took a ferry and a bus to go camping alone in Kristiansund. I had a great experience. I never felt in danger. I did itch hiking on the way back to catch the ferry and I found a very kind man to drive me. I felt safe all the time even during the drive with a stranger.

Is Norway worth visiting?

Family travel experience

Amazing trip, I have seen some of the best views and done amazing walks. Would totally recommend if you can afford it. Keep in mind Norway is really expensive (same prices as Switzerland!) and especially Lofoten as it is so far away from everything and most of the products are imported. I wouldn’t be able to tell you exactly what my budget was as I travelled with my family. Great great walks with amazing views, totally breath-taking.

Solo travel experience

I spent two days in Oslo, took a train to Bergen, rented a car and traveled to Trolltunga, then flew north to Tromso and rented a car/drove around the Lofoten Islands. It was the most monumental solo trip I've ever taken.
