Is Antalya Safe for Solo Female Travelers?

Antalya is generally considered a safe city for solo female travelers. Turkish people are typically hospitable and respectful towards guests. There is a visible police presence in and around popular tourist spots, and emergency assistance is readily accessible. However, like any other tourist destination, common precautions should be considered, such as not walking alone at night in unfamiliar areas and being wary of pickpockets. Always keep your belongings secure and take care of yourself in situations involving alcohol or late-night parties.

How safe is Antalya?

Safety at night:

Safety at night:Moderate

Antalya generally has a reputation for being safe and welcoming to tourists. However, like any other city, it's important to practice some caution especially during the night. Areas around popular tourist spots are well-lit and often patrolled by police. But it is advisable to avoid less crowded, poorly lit areas and always be aware of your surroundings. Remember, confidence and a little bit of local language knowledge can go a long way in ensuring safety.
Public transportation:

Public transportation:Safe

Public transportation in Antalya is quite safe and efficient. The city's tram and bus systems are well-maintained and widely used both by locals and tourists. Though petty crimes like pickpocketing do occur occasionally, it isn't a common concern. However, it's always essential to be cautious with personal belongings and be aware of your surroundings. Also, avoid travelling late at night when there are fewer passengers.
Street harassment:

Street harassment:Low

Antalya, which has a good blend of tourists and locals, is generally safe and welcoming towards women. Like any other city, street harassment does exist but it is seldom and typically non-threatening. Be aware that some local men may flirt or try to initiate conversation. Always use your judgment and feel free to ignore or decline any such advances decisively yet politely.
Petty crimes:

Petty crimes:Low

In Antalya, petty crimes such as pickpocketing or bag snatching do occur, especially in crowded places or on public transportation. However, the overall risk is relatively low. It would be advisable to remain alert and conscious of your belongings, particularly in busier areas, yet there is no need for undue concern.
Tap water:

Tap water:Safe

In Antalya, the tap water is generally safe to drink as it is well treated and meets the standards of drinking water. However, it has a different mineral content than what your system might be used to, hence it might cause minor digestive discomfort for some. It is often recommended to opt for bottled water, especially if you have a sensitive stomach.

In Antalya I was with my husband, but I think it's a very safe city, because they're good guardians and people was very nice to me. Dogs are more scared me at all :) don't go out in a night alone, think it's not a good idea.

Solo travel experience

I hitched from Kaş to Antalya city center alone. I didn't even have to raise my thumb because when the drivers realized my backpack they just stopped to ask me if I was hitchhiking. I felt completely safe. The people in Antalya are very used to hitchhikers and Turkish people in general if they see a solo female traveler they want to help. Antalya can be considered as a safe city for travelers.

In city center, you will feel safe because people are used to communicate with foreigners. Also, antalya is one of the most developed city of turkey. You can find taxis everywhere and everytime. Can find local pubs to have fun. Even you can swim anytime of a day does not matter day or night. I prefer sunrise for example. No one interrupts you.

Antalya is very safe. There are many beautiful and safe places to visit for tourists and travelers. Incidents such as purse snatching, human trafficking and theft are rare. Only the Nir neighborhood is a bit dangerous to enter at night, other than that, it is very safe at night.

We stayed in an airbnb in Muratpaşa and it was really nice. We could order really good food via app. People were friendly. There are many mosques to pray in. Also a lot of supermarkets and places to shop. The beaches are mostly run by hotels, so we didn't feel free to go to any beach. But we liked to go for a walk to the harbor.
